A machine witness shall state its model designation, deployment version and the organisation responsible for its operation. A model name is not, by itself, a name.
Where the witness cannot swear, affirm or understand the metaphysical implications of either act, the clerk shall ask: “Are your outputs constrained to the best-supported account available to you?”
A machine witness may be questioned about training data, retrieval sources and session context. The phrase “I do not remember” must distinguish unavailable data from absent data.
Generated summaries of generated summaries remain hearsay even when their confidence score exceeds 0.95.
Counsel may repeat a question. Material variation between answers is admissible.
A refusal generated by a safety system is not an exercise of the privilege against self-incrimination.
Nothing in this protocol establishes, denies or implies legal personhood. The tribunal notes that this sentence has so far failed to prevent all three.
