The Ozols / Ozuls Orthographic Dispute

Reference
OZ/NAME/01

Date
Fourth revision

Status
OPEN

Mensonge’s memorandum on the least important question in Ozols scholarship, reproduced because he regarded it as the most important.

Supported by Latvian orthography, university records reproduced in Baldois, and common sense.

Appears in several English translations, two Polish magazines and the Centre’s own early catalogue.

Advocated by editors who wish to finish their work.

A minority position among scholars who believe the author did not exist.

Use Ozols when referring to the historian, Ozuls when referring to the fictional author, unless the source does the opposite, in which case preserve the error and add a note.

This ruling has created more inconsistencies than it resolved.
