Artificial Persons Open Studio

Objects that listen, remember and misunderstand

The Artificial Persons studio presents a collection of small computational objects designed to suggest social roles without pretending to be people.

Some listen. Some remember. Some offer advice. Others appear to notice things that may not matter: a plant moving, an empty chair, insects crossing a surface, the length of a silence.

Visitors can handle the prototypes and leave short accounts of what they imagined each object was doing. The studio asks how little behaviour is required before an artefact acquires character, intention or responsibility.
