The University That Knows You Better Than You Know Yourself
This working paper examines adaptive higher education as an institutional proposition rather than a teaching technique.
A sufficiently integrated university could continuously adjust modules, assessment, accommodation, societies, support and career preparation in response to student behaviour and predicted outcomes. Such a system need not feel authoritarian. It might feel exceptionally attentive.
We develop scenarios in which personalisation gradually becomes governance. The central question is what remains of educational choice when an institution can make demonstrably better predictions about a student's future than the student can themselves.
